About
In 2014 Gavin played a senior role in launching a new television network – London Live, in conjunction with the Evening Standard newspaper…. In addition to this, he became one of the first faces from TV to front a fully online news series with Yahoo, and assisted by anchoring on a first global 24 hour African news channel.
Over the years, Gavin’s extensive journalistic background has seen him work on ITV’s flagship show This Morning, as a news presenter, reviewer and contributor in the magazine show’s interactive hub section. He’s also highly regarded for his work with another ITV programme, morning news show Daybreak, hosting their 2012 Olympic coverage and other news events. Before this, Gavin was a presenter on the BBC News Channel and correspondent for BBC Breakfast but got his on-air break presenting Newsround and Sportsround on CBBC from 2005. Check out his reels for when he played football with mega-star Justin Bieber, and chatted on the golf course with A-lister Samuel L Jackson!
Gavin’s also worked on radio, as an analyst with Global’s LBC and news presenter with Capital, a reviewer for Talksport on the morning breakfast show – and previously reported on BBC Five Live, the Today programme on Radio 4, and the famous BBC World Service. He later became one of the youngest presenters in BBC World TV history at the age of 26. He also fronted national and international sports coverage for the BBC News Channel and BBC World, and reported on the Winter Olympics in February of 2010.
Academically Gavin gained two top degrees at Cardiff University in business, then went on to complete the postgraduate journalism course at City University. He started his career in the media as a runner for Ant and Dec on the peak time series Saturday Night Takeaway, and before joining CBBC in September 2005, Gavin was a trainee broadcast journalist for ITV at Meridian.
Born and bred in Worcestershire, he’s a keen footballer in his spare time – he played semi-professionally as a teenager and in university, and now plays regularly for charity and media teams touring the country. Travel and learning about new cultures is something he is truly passionate about, an interest stemming from his roots in Ile Maurice, with relatives also across Europe. Random fact about him … he held the world’s loudest whistle in 2007!
